Single-lap joint creep behaviour of two soft adhesives

چکیده
Two hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives have been submitted to bonded joint creep tests. An amorphous and a semicrystalline considered for their different microstructures leading mechanical behaviors. The are referred as soft since glass transition temperatures stand well below the of applications, resulting in low stiffnesses. structural joints has characterized with single-lap types adherends were either or stainless steel. adherend roughness adhesive wettability before testing. significant stiffness contrast between stiff promoted homogeneous simple shear creeps. showed behaviors that depend on type substrates, showing viscoelasticity could not be predicted knowing bulk only, unlike recently reported literature. Finally, both same compared discussed at light inducing

The Effect of Fiber Breakage on Transient Stress Distribution in a Single-Lap Joint Composite Material
In the present study, the transient stress distribution caused by a break in the fibers of an adhesive bonding is investigated. Transient stress is a dynamic response of the system to any discontinuity in the fibers from detachment time till their equilibrium state (or steady state). To derive the governing dynamic equilibrium equations shear lag model is used. Here, it is assumed that the tens...
متن کاملFracture behaviour of adhesively bonded single lap joint with 45° ply oriented four layered symmetric and antisymmetric adherends
In aerospace and many types of civil infrastructure applications, the use of adhesive-bonded composite joints have been constantly increasing. In this study, fracture behaviour of adhesively bonded single lap joint (SLJ) with pre-existing damage at the interface of free edge of the top adherend and adhesive along the width of the joint is studied by strain energy release rate (SERR) approach us...
متن کاملFracture mechanics-based life prediction of a riveted lap joint
In this paper, three-dimensional modeling of the fatigue crack growth profiles was performed in a simple riveted lap joint. Simulation results showed that mode I was dominated on the one side of the plates and the crack straightly grew on this side, while the other side of the plates was in a mixed-mode condition and the crack propagation path was not straight on this side. Afterward, the fract...
متن کاملFatigue behaviour of composite adhesive lap joints
This paper is concerned with a fatigue study of composite adhesive lap joints produced from a bi-directional woven E-glass fibres and polypropylene. The adhesive used was a Bostik 7452 (Rubber & Plastics Grade) ethyl cyanoacrylate type. The effects of layer orientation, lap joint length and water immersion on the fatigue behaviour were studied. The specimens were immersed in water during period...
متن کاملTwo modes of nanoleakage expression in single-step adhesives.
Self-etch adhesives that etch, prime, and bond simultaneously should not exhibit incomplete resin infiltration within hybrid layers. We hypothesized that nanoleakage patterns in these systems are artifacts caused by mineral dissolution in mildly acidic silver nitrate. Resin-dentin interfaces bonded with four single-step, self-etch adhesives were examined for nanoleakage by conventional (pH 4.2)...
